<abstract xml:lang="ru">

Evgeny Zvyagin is one of the most significant representatives of the Leningrad underground of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. His short stories and novellas were published in the magazines "Clock", "Neva", "Continent", "Star", "Rodnik", "Aurora" and others. The article explores the poetics of Evgeny Zvyagin's cycle of short stories "Will-o'-the-Wisps". The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time the study of the works of Evgeny Zvyagin was undertaken in the context of the historical and literary process. The purpose of the article is to examine the poetics of "Will-o'-the-Wisps" inseparably from the main motifs and images of classical literature. The study of the images of homeless characters in the stories "Untitled", "Grinder", "Will-o'-the-Wisps", "Inside" and "Monologue" has been undertaken. In the story "Wandering Lights", on the one hand, there is a postmodern irony that deconstructs the principles of a little man's life, on the other – an element of mystical realism based on the ancient Greek myth of the animated statue of Pygmalion – Galatea. The story "Untitled" examines the motif of restlessness based on the corresponding image of the main character, as well as the author's play on the insignificance of his existence. The combination of the image of the "little man" and Evgeny Zvyagin's postmodern exploration of non-selectivity, expressed in epistemological uncertainty, is actualized. In turn, "The Grinder" examines the author's unconventionally embodied motive of restlessness: the work actualizes a mentally destabilized character, whose eccentricity is embodied absently. Evgeny Zvyagin's metaphorical adaptation of the character's mental limitations, which is an element of the "case poetics" of the "Monologue", is shown. The specifics of avoiding everyday life through the internal dialogue of the "monologue player" are emphasized. The artistic dialogue of the story "Inside" and the work of A.P. Chekhov "The Man in the Case" is studied on the basis of the actualization of the "case" of the main character. It is concluded that the embodiment of the poetics of the little man and the "case life", traditional for literature, actualizes the specifics of isolation from the environment. At the same time, the architecture of the "Will-o'-the-Wisps" cycle is a randomly arranged gallery of homeless characters who escape from everyday life in various ways.
